Method
- Wash rice and urad dal thoroughly
- Soak rice + fenugreek seeds together in water for 8 hours. Then drain, reserve 1 cup of water for blending below.
- Soak urad dal in water for 8 hours. Then drain.
- Soak poha for 30 minutes prior to blending.
- In a Vitamix, blend 1/2 cup of the soaked rice, fenugreek and poha at a time. Blend until smooth. Add water as needed.
- In a Vitamix, blend 1/2 cup of the urad dal at a time. Blend until smooth. Add water as needed.
- Mix both batters together. Cover and let the batter ferment 8-12 hours (overnight) in a warm place until it doubles in size and turns airy.
- Add salt to the batter.
